How to Save a Bunch of Money on Aluminum Foil

Sunday, March 5th, 2006

Modifying a room to block RF transmisions is fairly simple, but the difference with NaturalNano’s nanotube-based shielding paint is one of cost and ease of application. I couldn’t find a price, but it sounds like the process would be less expensive than traditional methods—perhaps even within the price range of your average conspiracy theorist. Another significant selling point is the ability to easily enable/disable RF transmissions inside a shielded room.

Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD

HDTV

After all the salvos in the Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD battle, it appears Toshiba (HD-DVD) will launch an actual product this month, while Sony’s (Blu-Ray) initial offering will be in May. Get a Free USB Drive From Microsoft

Wednesday, March 1st, 2006

Microsoft is offering to send out USB drives filled with “Valuable Information” about its products and services. The folks at digg.com quickly recognized this as a great way to get a free USB drive (although it will most likely have a small memory capacity).

Here’s how it works:

  1. Go to this link.
  2. Click on the image that says “Valuable Information”.
  3. Log in to your Passport account, or create one if necessary.
  4. Fill out the form, being sure to un-check all the boxes asking if Microsoft can contact you. The answers to the four questions are: 2, true, true, true.
  5. Follow the instructions for verifying your email.
  6. Wait 6-8 weeks for delivery

If you’re worried about the Passport account, I’ve had one for years without any problems.
